Bibiana Zhang’s journey with dance began in childhood, inspired by a heartfelt promise shared with her mother. A passionate guzheng player, her mother dreamed of one day performing on stage while her daughter danced gracefully to her music. Inspired by this beautiful vision, Bibiana began studying Chinese folk and classical dance at the age of five, embarking on a lifelong artistic journey.
At the age of fourteen, she was accepted into the Hong Kong Dance Company Youth Group, where she received professional training and participated in numerous large-scale performances and competitions, building extensive stage experience.
Beyond dance, Bibiana holds a Bachelor’s degree in Visual Arts and a Master’s degree in Art Therapy. She is passionate about exploring the connection between art, emotion, and everyday life, believing that art has the power to hold, express, and transform emotions while fostering meaningful connections between people and culture.
Although her mother is no longer here to witness each performance, the love for dance that first took root in childhood continues to guide her. As a member of the Sydney Chinese Dance Theatre, Bibiana is honoured to share the stage with fellow dancers in celebrating and preserving Chinese dance traditions. Through every performance, she hopes to inspire audiences from diverse cultural backgrounds to experience the beauty and richness of Chinese arts, while carrying forward a passion that began at home and now lives on through the stage.
